Early English 16th Century, C 1762. Note the size of the Tibetan Empire with relationship to Ceylon, Sri Lanka, The Burman Empire split between Ava & Pegu, with  Siam, Indo Chine/Cochin and Camboja.

Maps provide an essential medium for understanding the history of exploration, as well as the transmutation of religion, culture & art.
